Taipei 101

Taipei 101 is one of the largest skyscrapers in the world. It is located in the capital of Taiwan-Taipei. It is a business center. Downstairs there are shopping centers, and on the upper floors office departments.Construction began in 1999, and ended in 2003. It was one of the tallest skyscrapers in Asia and held this title exactly 4 years (from 2003 to 2007).

Its height is 510 meters including the spire and antenna. Number of floors is 101. There are also two circular observation platforms: one internal, and the other-external. Located on floors 89 and 91. Also there are 61 of the world’s fastest elevators, which will take you to the observation deck (89th floor) in 39 seconds. The speed of the elevators is 60 km / h.
But the most important feature of this skyscraper is its damper (ball-pendulum) weighing 660 tons. It is located between 83 and 91 floors. Specially it was created and designed by engineers for the natural conditions of South-East Asia, as there are often typhoons and earthquakes there. This ball can not let fall this skyscraper, even with very strong shocks.

At night, Taipei 101 is highlighted and depending on the day of the week in different colors.
